You walk into your family meal and here comes Aunt Susan. She runs up to hug you and pauses in astonishment. Out of her mouth comes the words: "Oh my goodness. You look amazing! Have you lost weight??" You smile and feel more pride than EVER before. #BestFeelingEver.

So, here are our top 4 tips and tricks to keep up with your goals even while grandma puts more pie on your plate.
1. Conversation Topics
There's nothing more annoying than people talking about how much they're eating. So, instead focus the conversation on how eating healthily applies to every day, INCLUDING holidays. This will help you keep your eyes on the prize and possibly inspire those around you.
2. Portion Control
We have all seen the classic food pyramid. But did you know that it was updated to look like a plate a couple years ago? Check out the picture of it below and follow it to the best of your ability. This way, you get all the nutrition you need without eating to excess. We in the ASAP Skinny Family swear by this system for our meals.
3. Go Easy On Yourself and Stop Comparing
There is no such as perfection. We get that. So, if you eat a little more than usual, that is okay. Beating yourself up for it will most likely just lead to emotional eating later and that doesn't help anyone. Also, stop comparing yourself to your younger cousins ( we all do it). Everyone has a different metabolism and who knows, maybe one day they'll come to you for how you lost weight.
4. Don't Show Up Super Hungry
There's nothing worse than being starving and having to attempt self-control at a large meal. Make sure to eat at least breakfast or a snack before going. This way you will only be moderately hungry by the time food is served. It works every time.
Family meals never have to ruin your journey. Just stay strong and love the process.
